7월 24일 Crazy kids!My kids are nuts. Just so you know: my kids are nuts. At least the little one is.
Terrible 2's, my eye!! This kid's been 3 for a couple of months, and she just gets crazier every day. This new thing she does where she wants to run through parking lots is just scary! What is WITH her?! And then she laughs about it! Like driving Mommy to a nervous breakdown is something to giggle about. I have to hold on to that child's hand like... well, I don't know like what, but tight!
They're not called nervous breakdowns anymore, are they? Well, whatever they're called, I'm headed right for one. Sigh.
I don't think that I'll ever figure out this mommyhood thing! Is there a single correct way to deal with the insanity and chaos that children bring? Now what am I supposed to do with a 3-year-old who thinks that running away from Mommy in a parking lot is a fun game? I've explained the dangers repeatedly, I've yelled, I've begged.... do I keep her in a stroller at all times?
I think I'm gonna have to put my kid on a leash. 6월 16일 boredI need to do something fun this weekend. You hear so much about how we spend all our time taking care of everyone else and don't spend any time on ourselves... and about how important it is to take time for yourself. Blah, blah, blah. Who has that kind of time?
On the other hand, I think I need to go out to the movies with friends... or something. Anything, as long as it's without the kids. I'm not entirely sure why. I mean, they're being good, so it isn't that. Maybe I just need some grown-up time. And it's so sad that even when we moms get together, all we talk about are the kids.
Who knew that being a mom would be so all-consuming? I mean, I knew that once I had kids my whole world would revolve around them. But I had no idea that once I had kids, my whole world would revolve around them. :) 4월 27일 Why women don't always tell the whole truthfrom an email i got... One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, 'My dear child, why are you crying?' The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family. The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with sapphires. The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a golden thimble studded with rubies. The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble. The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy. Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water. When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, 'Why are you crying?' 'Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!' And so the Lord let her keep him.

We have all passed a horrible wreck or seen the news and hope that we never have to experience the unexpected. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and sometimes your cell phone is the only thing that can save you. Make sure that you know how to be prepared for an emergency so that you don't have to suffer or make others wonder about your medical care. Well, in the spirit of Ramadan, I've been poking around at all my favorite Muslim/Islamic info websites, and I found something good at IslamiCity.com. They have free literature about Islam for non-Muslims, which is a great program. Anyone interested in learning about Islam and Muslims should visit them at http://www.islamicity.com/freeliterature/. And I strongly encourage Muslims to click here to donate a few dollars to keep this program of accurate information running.
Keep smiling, everyone. Have a great weekend and a blessed Eid! 10월 17일 The Merits of Fastingi got this from the usc-msa compendium of Muslim texts. it's from Essentials of Ramadan, The Fasting Month by Tajuddin B. Shu`aib, which seems like a great resource for anyone wanting to learn about Ramadan. (click here to go to the site and read the entire text) THE MERITS OF FASTINGIslam is built on five pillars. Each represents a unique utility, an institution, if you will, through which the believer builds his relationship with the Creator and the creation. Of all the pillars of Islam, none is more special than siyaam, fasting. While there may be an appearance of Riya, eye service, or show, in all other pillars - Salaat, Zakaat, Hajj, and even the Kalimah - there is no such possibility in fasting. The only One who knows that you are really abstaining is Allah, the Almighty. It is easy to pretend to be fasting; while in hiding, you may eat or drink. Thus, fasting is considered a special worship, as Hadith reports from the Messenger of Allah (saas) have detailed. It has been reported by the way of Abu Hurairah (raa) that the Prophet (saas) reported that Allah (SWT) said in a Hadith Al-Qudsi: "All services of the son of Adam are for him except fasting. It is for Me, and I will reward him for it. Fasting is a shield. On the day you fast, do not use obscenity, nor yell at others, nor act ignorantly towards them. However, if anyone abuses you verbally or attempts to draw you to fight with him, say 'I am fasting' two times. The Prophet (saas) then states: I swore by the One (Allah) in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, the breath of the faster is sweeter to Allah on the Day of Judgment than the scent of musk. The faster experiences enjoyment twice: he is pleased when he breaks his fast, and he is pleased when he meets his Maker" (Muslim) Among the points this incisive hadith revealed is that fasting is Allah's. Certainly, there is only one reason why a believer will put himself or herself through this trying physical exercise that - to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT). The fast is the single most important device to test the Iman, faith, of the believer and the depth of his sincerity and commitment to the concept of Tauheed, the Oneness of Allah. The hadith also states that fasting is a shield, an armor protecting the believer from sinful acts (ma'asi). Do you not know that nourishment is the first culprit in the propagation of sins? For when you eat, the blood flow increases considerably, and the energy level increases, making it easier for Satan to use your own energy level to tempt you to commit sins. In another hadith, the Prophet states: "Satan runs in the circulatory system of the son of Adam in the same way blood circulates in our system; so tighten his passages with hunger." (Bukhari/Muslim) Now you see why fasting becomes a shield. Fasting enables the believer to guard against his archenemy. It also helps him against human evil by putting the patience and perseverance gained from fasting into use with forbearance and forgiveness of the attacker - that is, of course, when the safety of ones life is not involved. Otherwise, in this case, Al-Qur'an allows the believer to repel evil without transgression. 10월 8일 grades of fasting-- book excerpti found this in the Ramadan info on soundvision.com and liked the message. keep smiling, everyone.
Inner Dimension of Fasting:
Excerpts from Ghazali's Inner Dimention of Islamic Worship Three grades of fasting It should be known that there are three grades of fasting: ordinary, special and extra-special. Ordinary fasting means abstaining from food, drink. Special fasting means keeping one's ears, eyes, tongue, hands and feet-and all other organs-free from sin. Extra-special fasting means fasting of the heart from unworthy concerns and worldly thoughts, in total disregard of everything but Allah. See not what displeases Allah A chaste regard, restrained from viewing anything that is blameworthy or reprehensible, or which distracts the heart and diverts it from the remembrance of God. The Prophet, said: the furtive glance is one of the poisoned arrows of Satan, on him be God's curse. Whoever forsakes it for fear of God, will receive from Him, great and gracious is He, a faith the sweetness of which he will find within his heart.' Jabir relates from Anas that God's Messenger, on him be peace, said: 'Five things break a man's fast: lying, backbiting, scandalmongering, perjury and a lustful gaze.' Speak no evil Guarding one's tongue from twaddle, lying, backbiting, scandalmongering, obscenity, rudeness, wrangling and controversy; making it observe silence and occupying it with remembrance of Allah and with recitation of the Quran. This is the fasting of the tongue. Sufyan said: "backbiting vitiates the fast." Layth quotes Mujahid as saying : "Two habits vitiate fasting: backbiting and telling lies.' The Prophet said: ' Fasting is a shield; so when one of you is fasting he should not use foul or foolish talk. If someone attacks him or insults him, let him say:"I am fasting, I am fasting!" Hear no evil Closing one's ears to everything reprehensible; for everything unlawful to utter is likewise unlawful to listen to. That is why Allah equated the eavesdropper with the profiteer " (They like to) listen to falsehood, to devour anything forbidden" (part of Quran 5: 42). Do no evil Keeping all other limbs and organs away from sin: the hands and feet from reprehensible deeds, and the stomach from questionable food at the time for breaking fast. It is meaningless to fast, to abstain from lawful food, only to break one's Fast on what is unlawful. The object of Fasting is to induce moderation. The Prophet said 'How many of those who Fast, get nothing from it but hunger and thirst!' Avoid overeating Of what use is the fast as a means of conquering God's enemy and abating appetite, if at the time of breaking it not only makes up for all one has missed during the daytime, but perhaps also indulges in a variety of extra foods? It has even become the custom to stock up for Ramadan with all kinds of foodstuffs, so that more is consumed during that time than in the course of several other months put together. It is well known that the object of fasting is to experience hunger and to check desire, in order to reinforce the soul in piety. If the stomach is starved from early morning till evening, so that it's appetite is aroused and it's craving intensified, and it is then offered delicacies and allowed to eat its fill, its taste for pleasure is increased and its force exaggerated; passions are activated which would have lain dormant under normal conditions. It is therefore essential to cut down one's intake of what one would consume on a normal night, when not Fasting. No benefit is derived from the fast if one consumes as much as he or she would usually take during the day and night combined. Look to Allah with fear and hope After the fast has been broken, the heart should swing like a pendulum between fear and hope. For one does not know if one's fast will be accepted, so that one will find favor with God, or whether it will be rejected, leaving one among those He abhors. This is how one should be at the end of any act of worship one performs. .......[order Inner Dimention of Islamic Worship] By Imam Ghazali 10월 4일 Ramadan Mubarak! For all of you fasting right now during the holy month of Ramadan-- Ramadan Mubarak!
